Whitefish Beginner Skiing

Crowded slopes can be extremely intimidating for beginner and first-time skiers. Luckily for beginners at Whitefish, that’s not a problem. In fact, most skiers and boarders note an absence of people on the slopes. This makes learning at your own speed and progressing in a comfortable way that much more enjoyable on a Whitefish ski vacation, plus you’ll spend more time learning to ski on the slopes than waiting in lift lines.

Whitefish Beginner Terrain

Beginners have incredible access at Whitefish. They have their pick of meandering green runs all over the frontside of the mountain, and a long, sustained run, Caribou on the Northside of the mountain allowing them to explore that zone. First timers have their own learn to ski area from the Base Lodge’s Magic Carpet surface lift. Once you’ve nailed the basics−learning to stop and wedge turn−it’s time to explore the rest of the Whitefish beginner terrain. Chair 9, or Easy Rider chairlift, offers beginners shorter cruisers great for gaining confidence without tiring out your legs. The green runs between Chair 3, or Tenderfoot chairlift, allow beginners the perfect opportunity to try their skills out on longer runs. And for a good-intro to sustained green trails, beginners can take Home Again run, from the top of Chair 2, or Swift Creek Express chairlift.

Once your legs and technique are up to snuff, it’s time to explore the Northside of the mountain. Head up Chair 1, or Big Mountain Express chairlift. Once you’re at the Summit House, head down Moe Mentum for a couple turns, then you’ll see green run Caribou on your left. Take Caribou down, and enjoy the views from the Northside aspect of the resort. You’ll end up at the bottom of Chair 7, or Big Creek Express chairlift.
